1. Wake up.

2. Hear on the radio that there are transit delays all over the city.

3. *blink blink blink* Buuuuuuuuuuuuh?

4. *peek out window* Ooh! SNOW! (I don't have classes or work on Wednesdays PLUS its reading week so I wouldn't have to go to class even if I had class but YAY! Snow!)

I'm so going to make it a point to watch the Genie Awards broadcast every year because they're so much fun. The thank-you speeches are about 20 seconds, most of the winners don't speek English very well (the awards favour fiction filmmaking from Quebec, but the show we watched was in English), and when the winners are interviewed, it's at the party and everyone's drunk.

This is a national film awards gala that has the "viewer discresion advised" bumper after a commercial break. Which was great, because the best moment was a probably-scripted bit where the Trailer Park Boys (in character) tried to steal Colm Feore's drink. That wasn't the best moment. The best bit was when Colm Feore said, "You fucking idiots, don't you know that drinks are free tonight?" And they didn't bleep it.

The Genies have a far smaller stick up their bum than do the Oscars. *sticks out tongue at Oscars* Everyone's way relaxed (drunk) because they know that nobody is watching. Nobody but me (and [livejournal.com profile] vans_angel and [livejournal.com profile] philthe25th because I made them.)

Breakfast on Pluto, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Little Miss Sunshine make for an awesome triple-bill. Good times, good times.

Today is a good soup day. Also a good day to be loopy! Awesome!

It's gone sunny-and-cold here, too, and the Necropolis looks so very pretty from across the Don Valley. People were cross-country skiing in Riverdale park but I have studying to do so I couldn't justify solo tobogganing on the fresh deep snow before the kids got to it. *is sad*

It's gone a bit slushy now (especially since the low-rent, non-touristy Chinatown I'm in doesn't seem to be a priority for the plows...) but it was really fun earlier this morning when it was still dark-ish and snowing huge flakes. :D

My snow-dance: wrap self in uber-parka, hold arms at 60-degree angle from body and alternate "high step over snowbanks" and "slide on the squished down slippery snow" dance steps. For full effect, squint your eyes against the snowflakes and keep your tongue just slightly out the side of your mouth because everyone knows that you concentrate better while biting on your tongue.

While doing this, make sure you're listening to pop-rock like Eve 6 on your mp3 player and bopping to the music.

Snowy days are bliss. :D

I live in Southern California, so the closest snow is about an eight hour drive northwards. The worst we ever get around here is the rare hailstorm, which lasts for about ten minutes. One day back when I was in high school it suddenly started hailing. The whole class, including the teacher, stood up in the middle of the lesson and went outside and we all just stood there and stared at these little bits of hail falling from the sky.

Yeah, I know....sad.

When it snows in the city, you get people walking around with umbrellas to keep the snow off, just like if it was raining. It's beautiful, if slightly surreal.

If I end up heading south for grad school (a distinct possibility) I'm going to miss the snow.
