Ted Leo and the Pharmacists = ♥. "Me & Mia", "Timorous Me", "Counting Down the Hours" (zomg!)... even with just those, I'd have been happy. But there was also "Biomusicology" and "Building Skyscrapers in the Basement" and "Dial Up" and "Where Have All The Rude Boys Gone". Plus, he was wearing a green flight suit JUST LIKE WASH. Cool points automatically go up. I bought a hoodie that says TL/RX (...get it?) many times. TL/RX rocked far harder than Death Cab, about three or four times more energy as on the albums. I'd see them again, without hesitation. They could bring down a venue like the Mod Club or the El Mo, and it'd even be worth the Kool Haus. I'd go back for tomorrow's show, if I had the time/money. As it is, I'm using that coffee-beverage buzz to (theoretically) finish the paper that's due tomorrow that I should have been finishing but I went to the Ted Leo/Death Cab show instead. Eh, what can you do?

Death Cab for Cutie = also ♥! The lighting design was particularly good. [livejournal.com profile] _shewalks and I sang Madonna during the instrumental parts of "Soul Meets Body" and rocked out during "Transatlanticism". Every person in Massey Hall sang along with "I Will Follow You Into The Dark", and it was fun time, fun times. There was swaying, and cell phones held up in the place of lighters. Sadly, they didn't cover and Kansas songs, but you can't have everything. There was an insane amount of screechy teenage girls wearing heavy black eyeliner and nude lip gloss (it was scary!). I refuse to believe I was that bad at that age when I went to shows. I refuse! Refuse!

Why the show was made of awesome: Both bands have songs I really enjoy (and they played them, which helps), the production values of the show were high, and both bands had great energy. And for some reason I enjoy that we got to see Death Cab and Seth Cohen didn't. Ha! I enjoy it in the same way I enjoy how my uni work/study job is the kind of work Veronica Mars wanted, but couldn't get. It's comforting, in a strange way...

Why the entire evening was made of awesome: I got to share it all with [livejournal.com profile] _shewalks! (Also: we DDR'd to "Dance Dance". Meta!)

Blurry pictures of tiny rockers (relatively speaking, of course) to come.

"TL/RX rocked far harder than Death Cab"

DUH.

And yeah, having witnessed the awesome force of rock that is Ted Leo live, I know exactly what you're talking about. I told him afterwards that I hadn't smiled that much at a show EVER.

Of course they rocked harder, but it still needed to be said, lest any flister think I was discussing an opening band that was okay-but-not-great, rather than someone I'd go to see no matter where/with what band they were playing.

But man, I want to see them do a full set NOW.

This (http://tedleo.littletype.com/imgs/groupsDetail/thumbs/LT0871.jpg) is the hoodie I bought. Win!

These are both fun.

Haha sorry, I meant the "Full set?" part to be like a rhetorical question, which I answered with the links.

I reccomend Timorous Me (my Myspace username! I rule!).

Hee hee. But I'm still sad they only got to play for 45 minutes.

He had a bit of a problem with the Timorous Me solo at this show, which was sad-making, but it's better than I would have done with the same material. You know. :D

The Bradley's Almanac links give me the "Link has been changed or moved" message. NOOOOoooooooooooooooo!

Dammit! If it's not around somewhere I'll upload it for you, that show rules.

The Timorous Me solo is difficult as fuck! I've been playing almost 5 years and I still can't play the second part (not the Irish-esque riff but the quick bit after) properly.

Hi!

Sounds like a cool show!

Before you go all "wtf who's the intruder?" on me, I got your LJ from you in person at the con in Toronto this summer. Me and my friends were sitting right behind you and _shewalks as you guys knitted your Jaine hats!

Yes! Rather, oui! I haven't been able to find anything from the con, so I'm more than glad to hear from you.

How's it going?
