The view from our living room

It didn't melt overnight, so I guess it's officially winter now.

*Jealous!* We got some dusting/flurries but it never sticks. Seriously, I go to school in the mountains, folks. Half the reason I came here was for the snow. Come on, Weather Gods, what kind of sacrifice does it take?

Mountains may be mountains, but come north of the Mason-Dixon line then you'll get proper snow. :D

Does it normally snow much where you are?

Well, yes, I do realize that I'm not getting real snow down here. I once knew what that was like, living in Maine. Every winter I have to live vicariously through my Uncle's unrelenting weather reports. From what I've heard and what I've read, we used to get a good enough bit of snow every winter down here. According to graphs and word-of-mouth, my freshman year marked the mildest winter by far in about seven or eight years. It hasn't gotten much better since, though it is supposed to be slightly improved this year. Basically, global warming is undeniable even if it has snowed a couple of times in November and before Thanksgiving. pfffft.

It's strange that over here global warming makes this side of the world snow less, but makes Britain rain more. Torrential-flood more.

I love graphs.

It is pretty now, but driving home from work last night sucked ass. I'm waiting for enough to accumulate so a solid snowball fight can be had.

OH GOD YES. I'm waiting for the accumulation so I can go down to Riverdale park and go sledding with a pillow stuffed inside a garbage bag.

I'm hoping there will be some nice accumulation for the weekend. I have two crazy carpets in my car with our names on them :)

Oh, here's hoping. The long-range forecast isn't promising, but what do they know? Just about freezing and no snow could just as well mean just below freezing with snow. There should be flurries right through to Friday, with sun the rest of the weekend. Not complaining about the sun, believe me. But crazy-carpeting would be made of much win.

I MISSED YOU SO MUCH

I mean... I politely and neutrally welcome you back to this country of ours.

Ha... ha... ha?

(I am a robot?)

[identity profile] naturelf.livejournal.com 2008-11-21 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a song from some children's performers called "I Am A Robot" that I was obsessed with when I was six. The full chorus is: "I am a robot/Computerized stranger/Electrified hairdo/Zat zat zat zat zat zat"

The call-and-response to that is burned into my brain.

By which I mean thanks?

*nodnod* It came with a vengeance to the Island... not much snow but it seems overnight the weather shifted from "it's fall, you'll need a light jacket" to "holy crap freezing". I'm still hoping it'll go back to being warm - being a pedestrian in winter sucks!

Oh god tell me about it. One day it's perfectly clear and the next there's an inch of uneven ice everywhere.
