My mother wins!
Aug. 2nd, 2007 08:36 pmThis heat wave is killing me: it'll cool down to 27 degrees MAYBE at night, and the apartment has zero air flow. As Hank Green astutely points out: "It's Too Hot"! So at work today I email my mother, asking for advice about ceiling fans, if they're hard to install, etc etc.
She messages me that she's going to see what's available at Canadian Tire.
I reply, Excellent! I'd been planning to head over myself after work, but hey: having a personal shopper is always awesome.
She messages me again a few hours later, saying that she found an in-window air conditioner for cheap and that she'll drive it out to me. She suggests tomorrow morning, I ask for tonight... and then before I knew what happened she and![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
dantae_hicks drove the hour+ into the city to deliver and install the unit.
I love my mother. ♥
It's not a powerful enough unit to do the entire apartment (sorry,amyisyellow!) but the point is that I'll be able to get a decent night's sleep.
Even if I only keep it on the super-powered fan mode (rather than full-on AC) it'll be better than that fan I'd been using.
...basically this post is to just squee about not sweating like a beastie. AWESOMESAUCE.
Srsly: it's been so hot in here that I haven't been able to brush my hair - it's too long to bear having down long enough to work out the snarls. That's how hot it's been.

Also: break-a-leg wishes topiratefanatic, stickchick596 and piratelifeforme! Here's to a smooth run! If I was closer than a 29-hour bus ride away, I'd be there cheering you on. :)
