Weekly check-in
Aug. 14th, 2007 09:38 pmThe Good:
- Casanova (the one written by Russel T. Davies and starring Peter O'Toole, David Tennant and Laura Fraser... for obvious reasons)
- Blackpool (singing-dancing melodrama cop show OF LOVE)
- August, for still being hot and humid and nasty but at least having the good sense to be windy, too.
- the Residence Handbooks go to print tomorrow. This means I won't have to work at them any more! YAY! (Srsly - this is a project that brought me close to tears of frustration on more that one occasion.)
- I got asked to be one of two student reps on the council that's doing the final redevelopment of York's current students website. Yaaaaaaaaaay. I get to tell people my opinions, yaaaaaaaaaaaaay. (Yorkies: anything you want to see on the site? Lemmie know. I have the power bwahahah.)
The Bad:
- Dad's had another heart attack and is back in the CCU. He's okay, but still. Someone should send his ticker a memo that tickers aren't supposed to go 178 beats/minute. It's okay for techno songs, but not for 75-year-old hearts.
- we toured the Nursing Practice Labs today and the mannequins gave me the willies. I'm not being facetious, either. I'll probably have nightmares about these robot things. Some of them can sense "pain" and will actually speak and say "ow" if a student pokes them wrong. CREEPY. And they've got cold, dead eyes and half-open mouths. Hospitals are unpleasant enough (see also: The Bad #1) but to have the empty lab with bed after bed of motionless robot, all tucked in? CREEPY.
The Ugly:
- getting up at 6am tomorrow to get to York for 8am to help conduct my College's Academic Orientation. *facepalm* Why do I do this to myself?
