Election decompress
Oct. 15th, 2008 08:40 amThis morning, The Current's snarky Voice that starts the show was reflecting on yesterday's election; he chanted "18 more months! 18 more months!".
Should we be taking bets on when the 41st election gets called? Think we'll make it two whole years before Stephen Harper (hisssss) decides he needs to be king and wastes millions of dollars?
It's up to you, American flisters, it's all up to you to make sure there's not a crazy person as a North American head of state. (I'm counting Mexico, their government seems to be run by hyper-conservatives, too.)
Looking at the spread of the popular vote, I'm even more in favour of instituting some kind of system that's a bit more representative of where people actually put their votes. But that also smacks of sour grapes.
Seriously, though: if Harper's goal was to replace the "government that isn't functioning as it should", he failed in making any substantial change. No one will be held accountable for wasting our time (as citizens) and money (as taxpayers), and Harper's epic tantrum just got him an extra cookie, not an extended bedtime. Asshat.
