I'm slightly disturbed at how much I'm enjoying Oz.
Like, fannish cooing levels of enjoyment. There's a fair amount of pleasure at the innocence and sincerity of the series: I'm still only in the 3rd season, but from this side of 9/11 (and the rise of 'quality' tv) is definitely affecting how I'm watching. The world it's part of isn't the world today. *waves hand*
The student pub I'm writing this in just played Robbie Williams's 'Millennium', and that kind of says it all, really. In between all the nominal social realism, and buff male bodies on display (I'd be lying if I claimed I hadn't noticed), Oz reminds me that once upon a time, there wasn't a War on Terror.
