To VVC or not to VVC

As always, the ol' bank account is the big limiter. I mean, I want to go.
On the plus side, I've been promised reimbursements that cover my airfare to the conference next month. I've also picked up enough work-for-wages in the last few weeks that after Texas I'll be back at par with my stipend, so: that's good.
I plan to hit Ireland and Portugal this summer. Going to VividCon would mean a) astronomical transatlantic airfare but also b) the chance to hang around Ontario, see people, maybe go down to Stratford to see Geraint Wyn Davies play King Arthur in Camelot...
Maybe I'll give it another week before I pay my VVC registration. The problem is that I should be saving everything I can against next year's tuition. Compounding this is that [current savings] + [OSAP estimate] = [next year's tuition]. I will have the cash available to go nuts with travelling over the summer. (I have also lost the ability to distinguish between [debt!] and [lots of debt!!!].) Being shortlisted for a scholarship isn't the same has having the cash in hand.
In the interests of being less boring: pictures from my cell phone!
This is a signpost in an Icelandic bus stop.

This is a dune on the Aberdeen sea shore.

This is an Ontario Heritage sign in the middle of Warwickshire.

This is a cat who would like me to stop taking her picture.

This is a street in Warwick, near where they filmed the Shakespeare episode of Doctor Who.

This is a bit of Warwick castle.

This is taken from the train as we passed through.

This is Southampton.

This is a view from the medieval city wall in Southampton.

This is more of the same.

This is the Southampton Maritime Museum.

This is my latest half-knit Dalek. [ETA: pattern!]

This is the lace scarf I'm working on. [ETA: pattern!]
