You know I like cover songs. Instead of doing a proper music post this week, I'm just going to send you to this site I just found.
Go for the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain's cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (which is really quite good), stay for the Hindi versions of ABBA songs ("Dancing Queen", in particular), and marvel at her collection of "Stairway to Heaven" covers.
There is HOURS of listening here. It's not just covers, either. There are audio tracks from other assorted strangeness (anti-homosexual PSAs from the 50s, bizarre Christmas songs, and categories called "Learning Italian with Fabio" and "Terrifying Christian Recordings").
But in terms of actually good songs, it's the uke version of Nirvana. (But grab the Peter Sellers covers of Beatles songs while you're there. They're classic, and I've been looking for a copy for a while.

Date: 2006-02-15 08:54 am (UTC)I run two different Collector fangroups if you're interested in joining one... or both.
oops bad code
Date: 2006-02-15 08:56 am (UTC)no prob!
Date: 2006-02-15 09:15 am (UTC)I'd be happy to join the lj whatsit, because The Collector is so very awesome. (I don't yahoo much anymore, so if I joined that one I'd never show up...)
Friend away, as long as I can friend you back. :)
But yes. Morgan. Love. What do you think of this season so far?
Re: no prob!
Date: 2006-02-15 10:16 am (UTC)The Yahoo one is all through e-mail, so you just go there (I can give you the address if you want), fill out the info, and all the discussions come to your in-box.
I think season 3 thus far is quite good. I hated 'The Vampire' but no show is perfect. How are you enjoying it???

Date: 2006-02-16 08:50 am (UTC)Yahoo on email, eh? I'll check it out, then.
"The Vampire" could have been (much) better, but I did like how the teenager stayed a teenager for the decade, and didn't gain the wisdom of the ages or anything. But it could have been much, much better. I think it wasn't the usual director, but I can't find much info about that.
The rest is approaching fantastic, though. I like how they're letting Morgan get over his 650 years of angst and grow a little (they are teasing us that Maya is Morgan's redemption). It's also great how Gabe's role is evolving from mute-freaky-kid to something more. It means that they're going to develop the characters and not give us the same story every weel. Very exciting stuff.

Date: 2006-02-16 09:07 am (UTC)So you've made other Collector icons? Interested at all in having them "archived" and displayed on my craptacular website? I have a section for Collector LJ icons on it :) (and is the phrase Devil's Plaything snaggable? I'd love an icon that says it!)
Have you heard of a convention called Timeless Destinations? It's happening in Vancouver from July 31-Aug 6 and has LOADS of people who have been on The Collector appearing. You should come :D
I'm not anonymous!
Date: 2006-02-16 09:08 am (UTC)Re: I'm not anonymous!
Date: 2006-02-17 06:25 pm (UTC)I wish I could head out west this summer and go to all the cons, but I could only afford one trip and the friend's wedding (in Nova Scotia) won out. It's the same weekend, too. Argh. I'll have to live vicariously through people who actually get to go.
Go ahead and use "devil's plaything" all you want, I'm sure it's a reference to something else as well. Here are all the icons I've done so far (newest first), and I'm working on some others. You're welcome to archive them (with credit, yadda yadda yadda), a show's only as strong as its fanbase, and we have to show them we love them!
The third and fourth were made when I didn't know Photoshop so well. Anything else, anything else... I can't think of anything. When/if I get the others done, you're welcome to put them up, too.
