Run, don't walk over to TWOP and read their Serenity recap.

It's the most beautiful, most poetic recap I've ever seen. It's- I'm not used to TWOP being so unsnarky. It's a work of art, really. If you've seen the BDM a bazijillion times, or even just once, it's worth checking out. He weaves in Jungian analysis, deleted scenes and outtakes, interpretations of various allusions, information from the commentary track, tying it all together in a package that is just damn gorgeous. This is TWOP, they're supposed to be lovingly snarky, not this poetic in their recaps. It starts out like a normal recap, but then... it gets downright lyrical.

And how he recapped (two p's, yeah?) the landing on Mr. Universe's moon, aiiie, it gave me tingles, brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful way to recap that scene. (Not that the scene doesn't normally terrify me, starting with the ship getting violently, carelessly, casually ripped apart and ending with my small, withered heart ripped out and stomped all over... Char does not take well to seeing innocent things/things of beauty destroyed.)

Best. Recap. Ever.

Once again, run over to TWOP and read their Serenity recap.

EDIT:

Rupert Giles

54% amorality, 45% passion, 81% spirituality, 54% selflessness

Utterly calm and resolute in the face of danger, utterly devoted to his
loved ones and comrades in arms, and utterly willing to do what is
necessary to ensure that good overcomes evil. Giles knows the score, he
knows that sometimes virtue relies on good men getting a little messy,
and he's willing to take that on himself, largely so that others don't
have to.

You might share some of that.

You most closely resemble one of the most popular heroes in the Buffy universe.

Congratulations!

Ha, they didn't catch the line about the inoculation [the shot Mal gets before going onto the planet] either.

I didn't think it was in there at all (and I saw the damned thing 4 times in theatres), it's in the super-kewl novellization, but not in the film. Not in the theatrical release, anyway. I haven't watched the DVD yet, so they may have added something in.

Maybe he said it in Mandarin?

No, no, it's in the close captioning on the DVDs. I think he mutters it really quickly or under his breath, but I rememeber reading the line and being "A-HA!".

Eh, shiny. [livejournal.com profile] serrico filled me in on the "WTF injection?" and I didn't give it a further thought. As soon as I watch the commentary (have to get up the courage to watch THAT SCENE again) I'll be there with subtitles on, so I'm sure I'll catch it.

Hey, these results look familiar!

Avoiding the Serenity recap for now, as I haven't acutally watched it yet. *hides* But we're almost done with Buffy, and Firefly and Serenity are next!

Whedon will eat your soul if you let him. Heh.

THE LOVE. THE LOVE THAT IS FIREFLY. *prods* Go. Watch. Now. NOW. If you're anywhere past the third season on Buffy, drop it now (because you've hit the high point already) and Go. Watch. Firefly. *prods*

Soul? What soul? The bits of it that I haven't sold to the Lit and Drama departments, the Ren Faire, and every library everywhere? Yeah, Joss Whedon totally owns them. Not sure if he's eaten them yet.

We're nearly at the end of Season 6. But we can't stop now! We've come so far! And we'll be done in 2 weeks at the most. Then Firefly! Yay!

*yelps and hides in the corner 'cause prodding tickles!*

He's such a cuddly man, I'm sure he's nibbling away at the soul-bits of all his rabid fans. (That TOTALLY makes sense.)

2 weeks? Well, okay. But there's like two good episodes in the last season, and without watching Firefly first, the final Big Bad (or rather, minion of the Big Bad) isn't as cool. Trust me. (*prods*)
