The second Epic Duels night happened. [EDIT: [livejournal.com profile] aoshi chronicled the adventure. Pls note Huffle scarf completed, G-dor scarf well underway. Pls also ignore photos where I have a stupid!face.] It was very much fun. Silly game, goofy people, knitting. I made a new friend in the afternoon and the got a blister from the drumming arcade game. But I also got a cat hat from [livejournal.com profile] _shewalks, which is so very cute.

A Collector plot bunny attacked, un/luckily I was far from a computer or pen-and-paper at the time. It died a small death, modestly choking and spluttering as it was born, hopped about and died. Poor little guy.

I've been a bit grey and listless for the past few weeks, and it's not showing signs of going away. Nothing to do but ride the wave until it's done, then pick up again. Maybe I'll give that Collector bunny another chance.

Watched more Stargate. Finished with Atlantis s2, Cliffhanger Peril isn't all that perilous. Dare I say that the Andromeda I saw today was a better episode of television than the one SGA and two SG1 eps I caught up on when I got home? I dare say I do. I dare say I will say. Maybe that's just because I'm seeing major Harper/Tyr subtext, and because SG1 continues to be unsubtle plot-driven derivative crap. Hire great actors, develop interesting characters and give them nothing to do but stand around and look stunned while CG'd stuff blows up. Where Andromeda had campy flashes of brilliance, SG1 and SGA had flashes whenever something blew up. It's gone full-blown XF, where fifteen eps in a season are mild entertainment, three are dreadful beyond excuse and two are wonderful hours of television. I watch to catch those two.

Was that the plot bunny where the Pretender infiltrates Hogwarts as a Gryffindor?

No! He was the new Potions master, a Slytherin.

I think that's as far as we got, though.

I'll see your Student!Bernard bunny and raise you a Substitute-Charms-Professor!Bernard bunny.

Hermione (to Ron): Why'd they get that one in to teach? He's barely lucid, and doesn't know the first thing about Charms...
Bernard: Hey! I heard that. Y'see, the thing, the thing is, this comes naturally. I'm just full of charm.

That, or History of Magic.

All in all, Harry and Ron prefered Prof. Black's (no relation? *kills another bunny right dead*) History of Magic lessons. Hermione huffed when they mentioned this.

She said, "But he's not teaching us anything important! On the first day, he read aloud one page from the textbook before passing out. Since then he's done nothing but tell us rude stories about goblin kings and lecture us about 'the finer points of a fine, fine wine'. It's impossible! Trelawney was bad enough, but then it's not like Divination is real magic. History is important!"

Ron made a face behind her head, and it was up to Harry to knock some reason into his friend.

"We never used to stay awake through class anyway, so it's the same for us, yeah? It's just you that's put out. We think it's brilliant. Besides, he keeps calling Malfoy a pansy little twat and throwing bits of old quill at him..."

Hermione did have to admit she enjoyed that part.
