Life soundtrack meme stolen from
aoshi. I found the same thing that she did: the songs don't really fit.
Movie soundtrack for your life. The rules:
1. Put your music player of choice on shuffle
2. Scene one = first song played, scene two = second, etc.
3. No cheating/skipping
4. Pass it on
Opening Credits: Culture Club, "The Crying Game"
(Ah, so this film will be a comedy!)
Waking Up: Big Sugar, "Sugar In My Coffee"
I don't want no sugar in my coffee
Makes me mean, it makes me mean
An Ordinary Day: The Beatles, "Good Day Sunshine"
I need to laugh and when the sun is out
I've got something I can laugh about
Falling in Love: Caesars, "Jerk It Out"
Wind me up, put me down
Start me off and watch me go
(Touche, playlist, touche.)
The Rumble: The Divine Comedy, "The Beauty Regime"
(...which has nothing to do with fighting)
The Break-up: Probot, "Big Sky"
My world has died, all gusts and leaves
Your wondrous life and love have ceased
Getting Back Together: A Perfect Circle, "Sleeping Beauty"
You're far beyond a visible sign of your awakening
Failing miserably to find a way to comfort you
(So, not getting back together, then?)
Life's Okay: Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, "Can't Stop"
Your girlfriend still loves me
The Mental Breakdown: Series of Unfortunate Events OST, "The Reptile Room"
Cruising: Procol Harum, "A Whiter Shade of Pale"
(Very frigtened of this)
The Flashback: Orgy, "Vague"
My stomach's twisted, all tied up in knots
And I'm feeling like I don't want this
(Exactly my reaction to baaaad flashbacks)
The Frat Party: Blur, "The Universal"
It really, really, really could happen
Yes, it really, really, really could happen
When the days they seem to fall through you, well just let them go
(A party at the indie-kid frat, if they were in to frats.)
Everybody Dance Now: Big Sugar, "La Stralla"
Naked baby on the ground
Only sky above
Hallelujah in my little honey
(Not so much "dancing" as "grooving")
Regretting: Mars Volta, "The Widow"
And I hear him every night
In every pore
And every time he just makes me warm
(Okay, I'll agree that this one fits)
The Long Night Alone: Some random mashup with "Cars" with some Eminem and Dre song
A Death: Sweeny Todd OST, "The Wigmaker Sequence"
(Mostly dialogue, and a list of hair colours and attributes, and then the Greek Chorus pops in to narrate, and then Todd sends the letter to lure his nemesis to his DOOM)
End Credits: BNL, "Life, In a Nutshell" (live, from Rock Spectacle)
Call me crazy but it really doesn't matter
All that matters to me is she
(*snerk*)
Saw a movie last night, and I liked it very much.
I recommend District 13 for fans of:
- Action movies that put a premium on physicality rather than strutting around with guns, but with Parkour instead of kung-fu. [Youtube link of the first action sequence.]
- Subtle science fiction with a serious social commentary side, especially given last summer's rioting in France: the film is set in Paris suburbs in 2010, after the rest of the government has given up on the poor and walled them in like the best apocalyptic city-sf. The most chilling part? The armed guards (in full riot gear) standing at attention outside the supermarket.
- Parkour: the film stars David Belle, creator of parkour and not a bad actor, and the film highlights the sport to great effect - more than just being a new, cool, visually interesting sport, placing it at the centre of a dystopia gives it a whole other meaning. Being cut off from the larger capitalist society, the residents of these walled districts wouldn't have access to gym equipment and would therefore have use what's available. The film recasts the form from an interesting new sport to something almost sadder.
- Buddy cop flicks (an undercover cop and ex-con are forced to work together!)
- Awesome stunts, the kind where you forget to breathe because it's so *freaking* cool, double that when 90% of the stunts were done without wires or digital tweaking. Plus, watching them *move* is just gorgeous.
- VERY pretty boys [Proof!] (David Belle is the dark-haired one.)
- Intelligent filmmaking - it's very aware of the conventions of urban action, and addresses/subverts those conventions with flair
- Escape From New York
- French films that look nothing like New Wave films; the film's look is the new universal 'hood, music-video editing, slick and urban, while still remaining relevant to contemporary French issues (ex. multiculturalism and the immigrant experience versus the white upper-middle class)
- Luc Besson, he of The Fifth Element (co-wrote the screenplay)
...an unfortunate side-effect is that I downloaded the film's soundtrack and have been listening to French hip hop all afternoon.
EDIT: (3:45pm) revised and expanded to make more sense. :)

Date: 2006-06-11 07:22 pm (UTC)also having prettyboylove is that screen shot. This movie? May need to be watched on the soul basis of the brunette stealing my soul with those big brown eyes *dreamy sigh*

Date: 2006-06-11 07:53 pm (UTC)And yes, I thought those eyes were going to be the death of me. The fact that those eyes are attached to an EXTREMELY athletic body does nothing to decrease the **ZOMG, HOTT** factor. Some of the things that man can do with his body, my GOD.
And it's a buddy-cop movie, which means slash abounds, my GOD again... The ending... *whimper*
More!
