charloween: (scary)

Turns out I'm a complete wimp. One full week back at school and I feel like I've been sledgehammered in the face. I'm also quite tired.

Yesterday started with breakfast and general sitting-around with the lovely Karen and her roommate (Sheri, Sherri, or possibly Sherry, I've known her for just long enough for it to be embarrassing to ask how she spells her name), during which I purchased a copy of My Best Friend is a Vampire via Amazon Marketplace. Win! As soon as I get it, I'm going to find someone to transfer it to DVD, and then I'm going to make many copies and share them with everyone because that film is just too cute.

Last night [livejournal.com profile] amyisyellow and I braved the narsty weather and the fatigue/apathy of our associates and gamely slaughtered cherry brandy, coke and rye (in various combinations), making our way stealthily to the Dance Cave. Or not so stealthily, because at one point we were walking down Dupont belting some classic hair metal. Upon arrival I discovered I'd left my ID somewhere that wasn't my pocket. We performed a strategic retreat and vowed to make another advance on the Dance Cave sometime in the near future.

Today I washed, swept and tidied various parts of Casa Del'Hobbit (formerly the Hobbit Hole) so that when [livejournal.com profile] _shewalks and [livejournal.com profile] aoshi came over for a goodly round of knittin', gigglin' and TV-watchin' the place wouldn't be a narsty hole. [livejournal.com profile] _shewalks showed up when I was in the middle of vacuuming and I jumped out of my skin in the most dignified way possible. She brought a copy of the Kinky Boots soundtrack which I'm LOVING because Chiwetel Ejiofor does a mean version of "I Want To Be Evil". (For those who are interested in hearing The Operative from Serenity sing Eartha Kitt, download that track here...). [livejournal.com profile] aoshi brought the donuts, which earned her hair-ruffles and more than one "aawww, Sammy!". Unfortunately, despite having Lots of Potential (ie: Robert Sean Leonard playing guitar and singing and being otherwise *sensitive*), Chelsea Walls was not, in fact, a Good Movie. But Heroes is good, so we watched that.

And at the end off all of this, I'm still feeling quite tired and generally sledgehammered. So I'm going to huddle under my nearly-completed blanket, giggle at the Kinky Boots soundtrack and gracefully pass out.

While Chelsea Walls was not a good movie, at least we had our amusement of just skipping to the RSL parts and talking about how he and Steve Zahn should have just screwed each other and have been done with it! XD;

Thanks for having me! And OMFG I forgot how amazing Threads of Time is. *flails after just having read vol. 4* The Princess? I forgot how hot she is! Ack!

I'm sad that Chelsea Walls wasn't better.

Thanks for coming! And Threads of Time gets very good very soon. I'm glad that you like it and it's not just me....

"We performed a strategic retreat and vowed to make another advance on the Dance Cave sometime in the near future."

hahahah, I loved this. I pictured you guys like stealthy ninjas approaching an actual cave blasting out cheesy 80s dance pop, then turning back after a melee of rave kids appeared.

It is an actual cave! Only, it's in what used to be the attic/storage space of an old movie theatre (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee's_Palace), right in the middle of the artsy-student ghetto (and everyone there is *scary* and has the *same haircut*). It does in fact play cheesy 80s dance pop, as well as old mowtown and Gorillaz. \m/ \m/
