Tonight, on Heroes:
alexmegami, we were right. The show is all about parents and children and children atoning for their parents' mistakes. And Linderman totally did use healing Heidi as a bargaining chip.
The part of the episode where Jessica, DL, Parkman and Mr Bennet are in the elevator? HIGH COMEDY. As was Peter's *snerk* to Claire's suggestion that they fly to Nevada or Nebraska or whatever state started with N that they were going to. They've got such a great cast, but in these last few episodes they've been dealing in even broader strokes than before. They don't let those little, subtle, real moments happen.
Hiro's realization that he has to be "ready to cut out his heart"? Poor fluffy Hiro.
Other than that... I guess we've been building to here for so long that finally getting here isn't that much of a shocker. It's just seeing how it all plays out.And whose brains get eaten/removed.
...
We watched The Mission in class today. Highly recommended for any Jeremy Irons fans. He plays a soft, fuzzy, sun-browned, JESUIT PRIEST* IN A JUNGLE and his voice, that low, drawly, British, sarcastic voice keeps showing up. GUH. Liam Neeson's also there AS A PRIEST IN THE JUNGLE. De Niro, too (with really great hair towards the end of the film). LOTS OF PRETTY. (and a random priest named Ralph. in 1750. *koff*) [ETA: the movie itself is very bad. Pretty, but bad. *insert whatever joke there*]
*am glad am not Catholic. Too much GUH in priest movies.
...
Also? MONTREAL MONTREAL MONTREAL NEXT WEEKEND OH EM GEE IT'S GOING TO BE SKFH:SIRHJNFLAJSLDHF KSJDN:EWIHR :SOI WOW!

So what/who stands in for Hiro's heart?

Date: 2007-05-16 12:12 am (UTC)Your turn: do you think Sylar expects to survive the explosion? It's hinted that Peter survived because he could heal. Sylar doesn't have that power.
(no subject)
Date: 2007-05-16 02:24 am (UTC)He's gotta have some kind of healing (or possibly not-being-able-to-be-hurt) power, since he's survived being shot by both Matt and Mr. Bennet, as well as plunging from that wall with Peter. But then why "save the cheerleader, save the world"? I'm soo confused...

Date: 2007-05-16 03:43 am (UTC)But with the wall, you raise a good point. Peter died. Sylar... limped away?
From the webcomic (I know, I know, it's only marginally canon), they show Sylar as being pretty seriously injured by the fall. He did land on top of Peter, so I guess that's some kind of cushion (though a spindly emo one).
After more thought about this, I realized I'd forgotten that Sylar was able to make hand-fireballs and not have singed paws afterwards. Plus, with all those powers, he was pretty good at controlling them, and making them behave as he wanted.
I have no idea why "save the cheerleader, save the world". Maybe so that Peter would be rebootable after getting the glass shard? So that Claire would survive to seek out her birth parents and get Nathan to reveal his soft and fluffy side and not become a scary totalitarian president? Or maybe just to give Peter a mission so that he got the hell out of New York while Sylar was still there. I don't know, either. Sigh. It's catchy, though.

Date: 2007-05-16 02:39 am (UTC)On the other hand, in the future, was it Sylar or Peter that blew up? My impression was Sylar, but Claire was alive, so... I think he expects to be immune to his own powers.

Date: 2007-05-16 03:32 am (UTC)But then, he did make fireballs okay with his hands and they were fine after. Okay. It was a silly question on my part. :)
In the future, though, it was Peter who blew up. Evil President Sylar!Nathan put 'round the story that it was Sylar who'd exploded (and thereafter died in the blast), all in order to cover for Peter's little explody accident (and face-scar, which is still WTF).
I have a whiteboard with this all figured out, I swear.
Date: 2007-05-16 12:49 pm (UTC)As for the episode, I think it's understandable that it's being broad, given it's switching to epic mode. It's also nice to just see things actually connect and to forget how useless DL and Niki/Jessica were for every other episode of the season. I'm still waiting to see how things pan out in the next episode before calling it one way or another.
Re: I have a whiteboard with this all figured out, I swear.
Date: 2007-05-16 02:00 pm (UTC)I'd have to watch the ep again to be sure, but I thought Future!Hiro said that Sylar having Claire's power prevented him from being killed before going boom, as opposed to allowing him to survive going boom. Ted did appear to be immune to his own power, so regardless of whether it was Peter or Sylar who exploded, I'm assuming he would survive.
Lemme find the whiteboard picture...

Date: 2007-05-21 03:35 pm (UTC)What I'm wondering about now is when did Sylar kill Nathan in the alt. timeline? Soon enough after the explosion to be able to put 'round the story of his (Sylar's) death, but how close to the election? And before or after?
