Sep. 9th, 2004 12:55 pmLast night I thought I had a class. A bunch of other students thought they had a class. Turns out the TA didn't have the same idea.
So I went back to a fellow student's room and we watched Josie and the Pussycats (hee!).
But today... today I actually *had* class and it was good.
Four hour lecture, 8:30am, but today was a bunch of early silent short films so that was really cool.
The prof gave us a list of the film we're going to screen this year:
Cabinet of Dr Caligari
Nosferatu
L'Etoile de mer
The Mystery of the Leaping Fish
Sunrise
Scarface (from 1932)
Stagecoach
Ugetsu
Vertigo
Kings of the Road
The Conversation
Jaws
The Killer (yay John Woo)
Spirited Away
and... SPIDERMAN.
That's the ones I've heard of... there's 24 classes and at least 1 film per class.
Today was a bunch of Lumiere stuff, Biograph/American Mutaphone (?) and some from the guy that did the trip to the moon one where they land the capsule in the moon's eye.
Some was boring but some was about eight thousand times more sophisticated than I would have thought possible. I'll have to rent some of the stuff and force people to watch it.
There was one that
deleriumd would love. It's just a film of a woman dancing, but it's incredibly beautiful. Absolutely incredibly beautiful.
The rest of the day: um... eat, class, class, eat, pack, home. Mum's been sick so I'd like to see her. I mean, I will, but I still want to see her.
Yay all of this.
