OH MY GOD YOU GUYS! THE BLOOR IS SHOWING PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE THIS SUNDAY!
This is exciting!
I don't see how you can not be there. It's a 1974 Brian De Palma movie that cleverly mashes up glam rock, movie musicals and Phantom of the Opera!* No, really! Stay with me on this. The trailer both misrepresents the movie and through some twisted inversion does it justice. The song that made me buy the DVD and the CD soundtrack is here. It's a very good song.
*And made it to theatres before Rocky Horror. Nyah!
But the cool thing about this is that the screening is a part of Edgar Wright's mini-filmfest that he put together for the Bloor while in town filming. To be fair, I'm not sure if tickets are available for single screenings and not the whole series. I will definitely try to find out. And if not, well, I'll just watch my DVD again. :D
