This weekend was a... um... five-day weekend. I hung around here the first couple days and then went home. Reed went off on a mandatory senior choir retreat with his school; Dad went off to Algonquin by himself. This left Mum and I together, which was really cool because last weekend was the first weekend since the end of June that I actually spent at home. The spaces between the weekends I was closing at Chapters.

We were catching up on things that happened in the middle of July. She'd never heard the Saga of Moneris. *shudder*

I did homework and she did marking for her class, and and it was off to the park where I could freak out and try to pretend I knew what the hell I was doing with a manual camera. I got most of my assignment done, and then we went to see Vanity Fair. It was an okay movie, well acted, gorgeous costumes and incredible makeup and hair work, but it was quite random at parts. I understand cramming 30 years of life and 900 pages of book into a 2.5 hour movie is hard. It was mostly well done but I need to read the book now because there were a few "...huh?" moments.

Sunday: more photography, but before that, gawking at the 100 starlings that decided that my backyard would be a great place for breakfast. They scared my cats. Good job, cats, really good job. Way to be fearless warriors. Hell, some of those birds were bigger than Midget.

Right. More photography. I got most done before noon, and Reed came home. We went back to the park so I could get the last 10 pictures done. This assignment was a A-Z list, and I had to get each letter in order, which made the entire mess take way too long. The last 10 pictures were free, so I just took more frames of the same stuff that I did the day before, plus a few with Reed in them. Reed-as-body. Tee hee.

There was this really neat photo shoot with Johnny Depp a few years ago where he was posed like a body in a crime scene photo; sprawled at the bottom of a stairwell. Subjects willing, I'd like to try that.

Photography class is going to be the one I complain about most of all. I know this, because I am scared of and threatened by that which I do not understand. This whole 'art' thing is so beyond me.

Film classes... hey, I get that. Today we're watching Run Lola Run.

Next weekend I will be back in Brooklin, but then after that I'm just going to stay at school for a while.

Your cats are afraid of starlings?!

Take pictures of their fears and try to do it in a Hitchcock style.
