Your Boobies' Names Are: Twin Peaks

No code! Woo!

The weekend: once again, packed with stuff. I've discovered that when I'm bored-ish (like Sunday afternoon) I pace around the house and it annoys people. Not having a functioning television means I can't sit and veg. Not that I mind. TV is bad. It includes things like Farscape. Which gets dangerous.

Turns out that photography assignment that I thought was done and ready and all nicely done. Well someone (me) forgot to properly load the film. I did that again with the German camera, so all those sexxxy [livejournal.com profile] deleriumd and [livejournal.com profile] burn_tomorrow pics... not so much. There were some neat shots on that non-roll. Like the Capitalism shot. And the crazy pumpkin-head. *sigh* The dinos turned out, though. Not a bad bunch of pictures for having no light meter. I think that every single frame turned into something, which isn't that bad for me not knowing what the hey was going on. The actual assignment is still at the lab; I need to retrieve it before heading back to school this afternoon.

It was lovely to see Meg and Grant again. Even if I was boring them to tears by forcing them to watch me pretend I'm worthy of being in a uni photography class. God I hope the pictures develop into something I can feel good about handing in. Back to point: it was a beautiful day and the company couldn't have been improved.

I think I'll just spend my time taking pictures of Capitalism with my East German PENTACON PRAKTICA funtime camera and hand them in no matter what the assignment. Landscapes? Here's a picture of a Hummer and seventeen of neon lights. Ooooh... artistic. Then the E.German camera and the Japanese camera can have a fight. With the plastic dinosaurs. *koff*

That was Saturday afternoon. Saturday evening was dinner-with-family because my actual birthday will be celebrated when I'm at school this week. Cue killer Scrabble game, which I ditched early and went to Grant's and watched the end of one Rocky and the beginning of another Rocky so I guess I've now seen a total of one (1) full Rocky movie.

Sunday we apple-picked and then I proceeded to waste time for four hours. Then I watched a movie. I knew (without a doubt) that I was watching a Canadian movie because it had: a state of perpetual night, no smiling from ANYONE, and a stripper dancing to a Leonard Cohen song. Oh, and Don McKellar. Let's hear it for Canadian films.

It was a good movie; it left enough questions unanswered that it was interesting (kinda) and all the little bits were resolved in the end. It is interesting to contrast the ending of this against that of Mystic River: in the Hollywood film, the dude out for revenge kills the guy, but in the Canuck film the guy ends up giving the other guy a hug. No kidding.

*spins in a circle*

So now I'm just sitting, and waiting for the film to be processed so I can take my slides and label them and THEN give them to the crazy TA man.

Dude. Nick Cave sings on Johnny Cash' last album.

The song is "I'm so lonesome I could cry".

Fiona Apple also joins in the fun on Bridge over Troubled Water, but only at the end.

Neat. Good ol' Johnny Cash. Man in black. I have nothing but respect for that guy.

Incidentally, when I saw Nick Cave in Toronto, someone (Chris Bailey, I think) came on between acts and did a 20 minute mini-set of classic Johnny Cash songs.

Bridge over Troubled Water... Mrs Selby loved making us sing that golly-dratted song.
