Joss Whedon snuck into my thesis. (Fun fact: "snuck" is apparently a Canadianism.) This latest summary was of an article about Buffy/Spike, Buffy/Angel and Spike/Angel and I happened to have a good vid with those three that I could use an example. That means I got to write:

Angel is distressed that Buffy's carnal inclinations are directed to Angel's former student and rival.

It's like the bad described-audio version of Angel's epic man-pain. I want to write more in this style, but my tone already wanders between silly, angry and overly-casual... so maybe not.

I didn't mean to get so much Whedon in the thesis, but four pages later this summary was done, and I'm sneaking up to 17500 words total.

Four more summaries to polish and then it's on to the next three tasks: 1) summarize the summaries - 20K+ words down to 20 pages, 2) collate the various other bits that I wrote last year (Methodology chapter!), 3) make thesis happen.

It's a matter of whittling and shaping at this point. I'm not concerned about word count much but I'm not certain of the size of the whittling-and-shaping job.

I do know I need to have three files for my supervisor when she's back from vacation: 1) the directed reading megafile with all the summaries, 2) the summarized summarize aka The Dread Lit Review That Is Threatening To Consume The Whole Project, 3) everything collated in a thesis draft that probably leaves out my data analysis.
