Once again, j'ai le stupide.

okay, so how many times have I seen Manhunter/read Red Dragon? (the movie called Red Dragon = also cool, but the book is the best)

I kept watching CSI and going "that's the dude from some movie that... I can't remember... so familiar... argh" *head explode* so I finally checked imdb.

Yeah. Duh. William Peterson = Gil = Graham, i.e. the face I see when I read the book is Peterson's and not Ed Norton's (who really is too pretty...)
Both movies take different liberties with the book, and neither is better than the other, but Peterson's Graham seemed a bit more unhinged than Norton's interpretation of the character. That's what I liked about the character in the book - a brilliant mind that is barely a few steps from screaming insanity at points. :) It's hard to believe Ed Norton's version is a guy who's had some serious head-explody episodes and who's seeing his family fall apart because of his work. Granted you don't really see that to a great extent with Manhunter, but you can believe the Peterson-Graham is really close to twitching in a corner mumbling about killer space monkey robots or something.

Right. Me feel silly.

Red Dragon: cooler Lector, Tooth Fairy and Lounds, bigger budget... I bought this one

Manhunter: adapts some different parts of the book, Peterson 'got' some different aspects of the character and was a lot less suave than Ed Norton, they did some stuff a bit cooler than the later version... but I'm a big fan of the book and a nut for accuracy :)
