Three things about university open days
Sep. 24th, 2011 10:43 pm1. Long day is long. I'd forgotten how long, but this was also my first time looking at everything from the venue's side of things, organizing people and coordinating with the student ambassadors. (Without the fun of talking up a program/faculty, it's just people-wrangling.)
2. Graduation was a breeze compared to this. Graduation was six days and, yes, this was only one. Graduation, on the other hand, was highly organized, and a pleasure to work because all I had to do was take my assigned place in the machine. Plus, graduation had breaks. This had seven half-hour sessions, with only 15 min between each session (ok, 30min for the first two) to turn around the house.
3. I'm not an open day person. I'm on my third degree. With the exception of seeing a TIFF film at Ryerson, my first day on campus for every university I've attended was when I moved in, or started orientation, or whatever. (I did do a campus visit for Western, and really didn't end up going there.)
