charloweenWatching Star Trek movies for research.
Some of these, I haven't seen in years. I don't think I've seen them not on VHS, so that'll date my viewing a bit.
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN is never not hilarious.
Also I was flipping through a book from 2005 about how amazing DVDs are, and the author actually wrote that use of "the moving image" in fan works "is still in its infancy" mostly because DVDs hadn't really been around for a decade yet. ...And because videotape never existed? FFS.
(Meanwhile: Noooooo Khan! don't activate that glowing doohickey Genesis whatsit thing nooooooooooooo Spock there's too much radiation in the *wavey hand* ....shower cubicle?. At least he put some fashionable gloves on? Nooooo Spock made the other whatsit glow and noooooooo the CG looks benign but the score is all dooooom....

(Also, is there STXI fic about reading glasses?)
Probably shouldn't be munching Hula Hoops through a tragic death sequence. ("Off all the souls, his was the most human?" Really. *shakes head*)
I'd forgotten how much the reboot Trek film took from Wrath of Khan: the ship full of trainees, teacher!Spock, the whole elaboration of Spock's line to Kirk that "Commanding a starship is your first, best destiny; anything else is a waste of material."
And now, fastforward through credits to Search for Spock and DeForest Kelley at his excellent bug-eyed best.
I meant to properly post (not much happening here, except I'm busy doing the same ol' same ol') but what the heck, time for Search for Spock and incoherence. I promise to hit post soon, but OMG Kirk's captain's log says he feels like he left the "noblest part of himself" on the planet, ie Spock. Wow.
