you little wonder, little wonder you
Jun. 14th, 2013 05:10 pmIt's been a slow month, academically, but hopefully my supervisor will be okay with Monday's meeting being a paperwork-y meeting. There's extend-my-finishing-date paperwork, which will lead to change-my-visa paperwork, and enable please-keep-paying-me paperwork (to two sources), and also probably going over my resident tutor application. Possibly also ILLO-need-the-book-please-please paperwork.
Oh, and there's a film review I promised I'd write back in April. I guess now it'll be published (online) in time for the DVD release?
Today's weather has been weird: first, the temperature went down to 9 (9) degrees (IN. JUNE.) overnight, and then during the day we got a mid-day thunderstorm, matched with epic bursts of rain (no wind) and periods of blue sky and bright sun (lots of wind). Something terribly exciting is happening in the atmosphere.
I don't mind the cooler weather; I do mind when the calendar says it's summer and I'm still making hearty potato soups and thinking about popping the heat on for an hour so I don't shiver myself to sleep.
But mostly I need to finish reading this chapter and taking notes, and probably stop listening to Bowie's Earthling album. Problem is remixes of "Little Wonder" are more interesting than a fawning 'academic' tribute to an artist who sounds like he was a real dick. (I'm not convinced by the 'forgotten genius whose few films overshadowed his career' argument; I'd buy a 'made a few interesting films, which is the only reason we care' argument.)
I'll be watching this week's Hannibal with my Hannibal-watching friend on Sunday. From Twitter reactions it looks like it was a good'un. *flaily*

Date: 2013-06-14 10:45 pm (UTC)The weather around here was much more summery at the beginning of May than it's been yet in June. Which is FINE BY ME; hellish warmth and humidity are not overfun in my west-facing-windowed housebox. (We had sudden epic downpours the past couple of nights, too. The atmosphere's just thrilling all over!)
I have Hannibal on tap for this evening, which means I'm waiting 'til it gets dark to watch (because yes), which means I can't go anywhere near Twitter or Tumblr for another, oh, three hours. Tumblr Saviour is a wonder, but I don't trust it much farther than I can throw it. Metaphorically speaking.

Date: 2013-06-15 10:07 am (UTC)I'm not a fan of excessive heat, but I am in favour of overnight temperatures hitting double digits.
Hannibal = tomorrow! (Just occurred to me - this hiatus is going to be epic, no?)
