Saga updates:
Bathroom: half-painted yesterday (yay!). I hope today he'll be back to a) sand things down and do a second coat, because yikes, b) re-hang all the things he took down.
Today was supposed to be the rescheduled installation of the new floor, but who knows when that'll happen, if the previous stuff isn't done.
Thesis: still in limbo. True to his word, the examiner got in touch! Unfortunately it was to say he's still stuck in bed, hasn't finished reading my thesis yet, but will have more of an update in a few days.
(I wish he'd tip his hand a bit - is he going to pass it? Is he going to reject the corrections and render the last five years of my life null and void? Ditto the other examiner. Does she accept the changes? She was careful not to say anything when I ran into her last week.)

Date: 2015-05-28 12:10 am (UTC)You're getting closer to having your space as your own again! Maybe! Someday!
Your examiners need to hurry up and tell you something useful. I mean, sure, extenuating circumstances blah blah, BUT STILL.

Date: 2015-05-29 08:27 am (UTC)I'm hoping for a thesis update today. Trouble is, Examiner communicates with Third Person, who then forwards things to Supervisor, who then tells me. So even if Examiner updates, Third Person might not check her email until Monday. I just wish there was a way to know where his response falls between "yes! pass! amazing!" and "no. gross. salt and burn."

Date: 2015-05-30 07:03 am (UTC)Other Examiner (there are two!) reportedly thought the thesis as first submitted was passable. When I ran into Other Examiner at an event last week, she commiserated about Examiner's situation but didn’t tip her hand re: whether she approved the changes. The two examiners have to agree, officially, and write a joint report.
Third Person is there for oversight, so yeah: That's How Things Are Done.
But no, no update. At least, I know my supervisor would text me as well as emailing were there any news, so I don't have to stay glued to my inbox.
