Let me tell you about a few awesome inventions. I've fallen in love with these little friends of mine, and would marry them and have little mutated babies with them, were such things physiologically possible. Or even probable.

First: my wireless keyboard and mouse. I'm not sure when the novelty will get old, but it's been a month and the honeymoon is still in full force. It doesn't hurt that I picked up these babies on sale during boxing day and they barely cost anything at all. But at any price, man... nothing beats writing papers, surfing das intarweb, and any number of other computer-based activities while curled up on your bed-couch (it's a very small room, and the one piece of furniture does double duty).

Why, this very morning I watched the last two weeks' worth of Colbert (Harriet Tubman on a space train!) without moving from my couch. No hopping up between episodes for me, no... I was even able to download more Colbert from the comfort and safety of the bed-couch. WIN.

The other dynamic pairing I have to praise is the less technologically sophisticated but still formidable duo of teapot and tea-ball-thingie. What's its right name? You shove tea in it, and it makes tea, and it's ball-shaped. You know, the thing that Krycek had in that first scene where you saw him with his prosthetic arm? That thing.

Another boon to the movement-disinclined, these wonderful things mean I can brew up to five cups of tea and keep it warm for hours. No one-cup-at-a-time brewing for me, not anymore. I have my pot of tea. I have my happy little mug. I have the power.

......and last night I went to the AGO with a bunch of friends and friends-of-friends and a good time was had by all. Tonight is the New Pornographers free show in Nathan Phillips/Fillion Square. 8pm, right outside of Raccoon City Toronto City Hall. Be there!

this is going to be fun, i swear.

Have you looked outside in the past hour or so?

There's a light dusting of snow on the car that I can see from my window. *blink* I'm unsure of what I'm looking for.

On the way home from the AMC at Jane and the 407 with my parents, it was like driving in a milk bottle - it was snowing so muhc. Not cool.

Huh. It was pretty clear down here.

But then, it's not like it ever snows downtown. There's too much car exhaust for snow to happen.

The snow gets trapped on the layer of smog and pollution.

And sadly, it is much too polluted for Captain Planet to do anything about it.

This post is making me want a wireless keyboard/mouse again, then I could watch movies/episodes of Futurama from my bed without having to get up at all. I could probably surf too if I increased the text size. Mmmmm. Fuck, I might just have to do this now.

Life without my wireless mouse is unthinkable. And it's actually a miniature mouse, still big enough to easily maneuver but also small enough to carry around and use anywhere with my laptop.

Your obsession with Colbert is a continuing source of amusement for me, BTW. :-) I can take or leave the Report, myself (I know, I know--blasphemy); I'm more of a Daily Show person. I have this persistent urge to bring Jon Stewart home to eat brisket and meet my parents.

My mum's got the mini-mouse for her laptop, but since I'm desktop-bound, the bigger one is easier on my hand.

I'm glad I can entertain. :D I like Colbert's show because it's more of a performance than a routine. It's all the layers to the show that make it fun - there's the character he plays, the ironic distance between the character and the actor, the audience-participation awareness of that difference between character and actor, and the frequent geek references. I like being in on the joke because it makes me feel smart.

Not that I wouldn't want my own life-sized Jon Stewart, but Colbert's just geekier.

Nice analysis (remarked the TV fangirl to the Film Studies major). I definitely appreciate both the appeal of the show and the show itself for performance arts and geekiness. Just, there's only so much I can take of Colbert's persona before I really need to turn him off--the pervasive "mock mocking" tone seriously grates, even knowing what he's doing and knowing that he's brilliant. I mean, I heart irony as much as the next gal, but I guess there's only so much of it I can deal with, undiluted, in one sitting (which is something I never thought I'd say before Colbert!). Stewart's guileless straight-man routine--routine though it may indeed be--is a bit more my speed in that respect.

That said, I want to molest those lists.

A wireless keyboard!? That sounds terribly exciting. I've a wireless mouse which I love dearly, but a wireless keyboard? That sounds fantastic.

And TEA! I've a wonderful little tea brew-er thingy that I love, but have yet to aquire an awesome teapot. Teapot, wireless keyboard, and new computer [I will fix this fucker!] lots more tea. 'Cause one can never have enough tea.

I am, at this moment, sitting halfway across the room from the computer. And for some reason I typed "walkway" rather than "halfway". Another cool thing about the keyboard is that it has all these other controlly bits and buttons. I can open the calculator, skip tracks on whatever media application is running, and close the active window and a whole pile of other things from various buttons. No blinky lights, but I'm okay with that.

And my next step is to figure out how to not over-fill the teapot so I don't keep spilling tea when I pour the first cup. Teapots don't come with the same kind of tech support as the keyboard.
