There is a show - currently airing and available at all your usual download sites - that's called Stephen Fry in America. It's no more or less than what it says on the tin: Stephen Fry, puttering around all 50 states, pointing at things and saying, "My, how American" in an astonished voice.

It's excellent.

He started in New England, and he's wending his way westward. He will, at some point, his California. Now. Since the first season of House, I've had fun with imagining all the different ways Stephen Fry could end up there. Preferably as House's old roommate, or a wacky cousin from England. And the character would be named Mike*. It would be a cameo. It would make no sense, but I would have fun watching it.
*From Mycroft. ^_^

...It will never happen. I know it won't happen, but it's a nice little wishing game.

However, with this Stephen Fry in America gig, there's a chance that, when Fry gets to California, he might swing by Los Angeles. Given that Fry's show is filmed for a British audience, would it not be entertaining if Hugh Laurie was to give his old pal Stephen Fry a tour of the set? Or teach him how to fake an American accent? Any way to get them in the same shot, is all I ask. Again, totally unlikely. But it would be fun, eh?

After inhaling all episodes of Dresden Files over the weekend, I decided to check out the novels. The first two weren't all that impressive, but the third one wasn't that bad. (They're really quick reads.) I think I like the tv series better; for one, Dresden is cooler on tv and is less of a weedy nerd who thinks he's really really cool.

About six weeks left before I go to England, woo! England with a side trip to Cardiff, that is. On the list of Places To See is that Canadian-themed bar in London. I've been to enough fakey British "pubs" here, so it's only fair I see the other side. We'll have three shots to get same-day tickets for Hamlet. Oh, how my fingers are crossed. :D

Next on the list of tv to watch/get caught up on is the end of Moonlight, followed by s4 of House. I haven't seen much (any) of s3, but I've heard good things about the end of this season. Then it's Ashes to Ashes. Man, there's a lot of television produced. It's, like, overwhelming.

Iron Man is at the Bloor Cinema this month. Luckily, I've seen it three times in theatres and won't be tempted to another screening. However, this weekend's got a few showings of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which I've been meaning to see. Tomorrow I might see Mister Lonely, now that it's in Toronto. It was a scary few weeks movie-wise, but now there's interesting stuff in theatres again.

Working full-time means spending a lot of time at work. What's the deal with that!?

I've fallen in love with the Guillemots. Upbeat, interesting, catchy music ftw.

I missed tonight's House (... I was watching Weeds with [livejournal.com profile] philthe25th), but I do have the House s2 blooper reel.

And you can have it too: [sendspace link, 68.98MB]. Download. Share. Enjoy.

From the gag reel we learn three important things: 1. they shoot with two cameras, 2. Hugh Laurie keeps an American accent between takes, and 3. all those comments House makes about how pretty Chase is may not be entirely scripted, and may be bits left in from takes where Hugh Laurie was trying to make Jesse Spencer crack up. There are a few parts I want to get caps from, but that'll wait until it's not 1am on a day where I have to leave for work at 8am. You know what really sucks? How it gets midnight-dark by 5:15pm, and how the sun doesn't actually come out at all during the day. It's like were in a perpetual state of twilight leading up to the solstice. YAY CANADA.

(And Weeds is tons of fun, too. I know [livejournal.com profile] meigahime's been raving about it since it started, but I'm slow, k? I still have those last 4 Farscape eps to finish, and started watching that last season in May 2005. 2005! In more proactive news, I've almost finished the shawl for my mother's xmas present, though the socks for my grandmother are just now ankle cuffs as I've yet to learn how to make socks. I've still got 12 days! That's plenty of time to learn to sock!)
